Students will be writing a letter to Elizabeth Laird, author of Welcome to Nowhere. In preparation, we brainstormed ideas and questions for content. We also analyzed a model letter, to help inspire us, and recognize elements that might be included in our letters to Ms. Laird. Below is a good sample of a letter, containing a summary, genre, setting, juicy thinking paragraph, opening and closing statements, and a leading question. Below, are the brainstorming ideas, the class came up with. Students will also be working with a proper letter-writing style, including the five parts of a letter: heading, greeting, body, closing, and signature
